Hargeisa, 17 Jan 2014 (SDN) –Somaliland’s Minister of sports, youth and tourism Mr. Ali Saed Reigal has appointed 10 members to become Somaliland’s provisional Sports Federations.
Federations appointed by the minister Ali Saed including Football, Basketball and Athletics ruling body committees who will be the next year’s sports runners in the country as stated in a press release issued by the minister on Wednesday .
The Minister stated in the press release to the media, “After I realized the importance and the need to have national sports federations committees in the country, after I made consultations with experts and all concerned institutions and individuals. After I have assessed their experience and knowledge, I have decided to appoint the following people to become the interim Football, Basketball and Athletics ruling body committees of Somaliland for a period of 1year in order to accomplish the rules, policies, regulations and bylaws of Somaliland sports.
Football Federation Committees
1: Abdilahi Kheire Awale (Ga’al) Chairman;
2: Mohamed Omar Abdi, Deputy Chairman;
3: Ahmed Mohamed Shire (Sa’ad), Secretary General.
Basketball Federation Committees
1: Mohamoud Hassan Abdilahi (Qodah), Chairman;
2: Abdiqani Ibrahim Rage, Deputy Chairman;
3: Mahdi Abdi Yusuf, Secretary General
Athletics Federation Committees
1: Mustafe Ali Nour, Chairman;
2: Osman Ali Husein, 1st Deputy Chairman;
3: Safiya Abdilahi Ibrahim, 2nd Deputy Chairperson;
4: Mustafe Abdi Hadi, Secretary General.
The minister added that the tenure of the committee will be 1 year and will be provisionally responsible of country’s sports activities, preparing tournaments and other related sports activities. They will be responsible for enhancing sports activities in the country and can have access to all international and local sports organizations and those who are interesting to engage sports improvements.
